Covenant House pres discusses homeless teen sex trafficking
March 12, 2015
President of Covenant House International, Kevin Ryan, spoke to CNBC this week about the increased danger teens face on the street. An estimated 25% of homeless teens have experienced some form of sexual labor, a study reports. Ryan details how prevalent it is for these teens to be approached and forced into sex work because they fear what the consequence of saying no woud be. The president also includes a list of recommendations on what can be done to keep these statistics from rising, including training police offers to recognize victims and to improve the foster system so that teens aren't left with nowhere to go when they age out.
